Why Pet Friendly ?
When my husband and I decided to partner in a business, we knew it had to be something that would allow us to live and work on the same site. For me, part of "living" means living with my doggie people.
Before deciding to make our lives together in the sumptuous and secluded woodlands of the Ozark Mountains, we had intended to remain in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and build a premier dog kennel. It was to have been the Hilton of doggie digs, and it would have provided airport parking spaces and airport pickup for the traveling dog lover.
The process of business planning went all to easily until we were stopped by a redesign of our parking that more than doubled the project price tag. We blinked.
In my business as a resort owner/operator, I still include the doggie guest, in direct competition with the dog kennel industry. This pleases me to serve the non-kenneling market. Another benefit to having human guests ( as opposed to dogs ) as my primary business is that I don't have to throw a noose around their neck every time they pop their heads out the door. This applies to most of my guests.
The doggie guests who travel regularly with their human parents usually travel well. The other kind will generally be left home to pester family or friends. The older travelers have often refilled the " empty nest " with a Fido or Fifi and will not stay where Trotter and Trixie are not welcomed.
There are some important precautions to take when checking in with Precious and Pooter.
As a guest be sure the proprietor knows that: Your dog is well socialized with other dogs and people
You have brought your own pet dishes
Your dog will be in his/her kennel any time that you are away
All vaccinations are current
Fifi, Precious and Trixie are not in season
I love to see my guests enjoying the park with the whole family and if you were unable to bring Bowzer or Booboo, I can always rent you a dog.
