Great times in the Ozarks

Just realized how long it has been since I last blogged.   A little embarrassing, but I have a great excuse.  Been having too much fun.  I have been hiking, Jeeping, canoeing, fishing (and some more fishing), and enjoying festivals and music.

Yellville ARkansas' Music on the Square started just last weekend.  It is just what it sounds like.  A little portable stage is set up in the middle of the street.  Traffic is rerouted around that part.  People set their lawn chairs in the street.  A few vendors ranging from BBQ to cold drinks set up, and the fun begins.

Last weekend one of our local hot shot bands performed.   South 14.  Named after the highway that travels from Yellville to our famed Buffalo River, this Bluegrass band is gaining recognition in regional bluegrass circles as one of the best in the Ozarks.   They played a little over an hour and took a break during which numerous door prizes are awarded to lucky ticket holders in the crowd.   The event is free to attend.  The tickets are handed out as a way to count the number of attendees and of course, reward them with gifts from local businesses.

South 14 returned to the stage and played at least another hour and a half.  Great Saturday night entertainment in the Ozarks and the price is hard to beat.  Make this event part of your vacation plans.   It will be a favorite memory from your trip.
