Ideas for Family Fun - There are boundless educational opportunities that involve exploring the outdoors through at our Arkansas State Parks, Fish Hatcheries, and Gaston's Visitor Center.   There is no limit to the family fun available, from miniature golf to zip lines, hiking to biking, rafting to water skiing, and even horseback riding.     Of course, all of these can be reached during one of your Ozark scenic drives.

Lake Marinas - Do you need to rent a boat, or a place to dock your own during your stay?  How about a houseboat for the whole family?  Visit one of our marinas on Bull Shoals Lake or Norfork Lake.

Ozark Attractions Here and Nearby -  When you are ready for a break from the water, you can visit one of our many attractions including museums, caves and caverns, dams and hatcheries, and artist studios.  During your spring and winter visit, be sure to see the beauty of Ozark Mountain waterfalls. Directions to each of the dramatically beautiful falls in the Ozark Mountain Region are provided below.  

 Dine and Wine - There is a wonderful variety of places to eat, ranging from simple bistros to more upscale dining establishments.  Visit a local winery that specializes in Italian wines, olive oils, and balsamic vinegars.

 

 

Nature Enthusiasts - Bring your binoculars because there is an abundance of flora, wildlife, and birding to enjoy.  From blooming Dogwoods blooming in spring to a dazzling show of  of bright yellow and vibrant red leaves in the fall, every season brings a new opportunity to capture the beauty of the Ozarks in memory or photography.  Arkansas Ozarks is home to migrating eagles, butterflies, songbirds, ducks and geese that fly through by the millions each fall and spring.

Some of Arkansas' best year-round canoeing adventures can be found on the crystal clear waters of the Ozark Mountain Region. Enjoy Class I and II rapids on a trip down the beautiful Buffalo National River. Float suspended between the clear blue sky and the clear blue waters of the White River or spend a half-day or full-day floating and fishing Crooked Creek. Swimming holes have cooled off mountain folk for generations, and in the Ozark Mountain region you'll find an abundance of refreshing and beautiful spots nature has provided for taking a break from the summer sun. 

 Rated as one of the top scuba and skin diving locations in the country, Norfork Lake is well known for its water clarity. Just imagine, diving in water that has up to 60 foot visibility dependent on the season.  Divers from all over the United States have come to experience the outstanding dive sites and the crystal clear waters of Norfork Lake

A few tips so you can enjoy your water sports safely:

  •  Familiarize yourself with the area before you enter the water
  •  Watch for underwater obstacles such as stumps and logs
  •  Swim with a partner or group
  •  Wear a flotation device (PFD) while enjoying water sports
  • Supervise children as they play near the water
  • Wear sunscreen
